Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation Gives Another Boost to Kids Club

June, 2003 -- The East Atlanta Kids Club has received a grant in the amount of $28,000 from the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation. The grant will help the kids club to improve and expand its mentoring and enrichment activities for at-risk children in East Atlanta, as well as to work on organizational growth and development.

About $15,000 of the grant will be used for general operating expenses, including costs for art, educational and recreational activities, field trips, the club’s new community technology center, and project management fees.
The rest of the grant funds will be used for organizational development. EAKC will work with a nonprofit consultant and an attorney to develop a strategic plan for the organization, to expand its board of directors, to create a resource development plan, and to secure separate 501(c) 3 status for EAKC, Inc. (which the club currently has in the form of a group exemption with Southstar CDC).

The Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation is committed to supporting programs and organizations that create opportunity, enhance self-esteem and increase awareness about cultural and community issues among young people. The foundation strives to be a catalyst for positive social change. For more information on The Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation, visit their site, The Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation,

Kids Club Receives Grant from Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation

May, 2002 -- The East Atlanta Kids Club has received a grant in the amount of $19,500 from the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation. The grant will allow the kids club significantly to expand and to enhance its activities and to
serve more children over the next 12 months.

Among the first items on the agenda will be to insure a 12-passenger van donated to the club last year by Holy Comforter Episcopal Church in Ormewood Park. The cost to do so had been prohibitive until now. The grant will also help the kids club to continue setting up a computer lab, complete with internet service and a variety of learning software.

A portion of the grant funds is dedicated to organizational effectiveness. Over the next several months, a consultant from the Georgia Center for Nonprofits will work with the kids club to map out a strategy for continued
growth and development of the organization.

The Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation supports programs and organizations  that create opportunity, enhance self-esteem and increase awareness about cultural and community issues among young people. Besides providing a safe and stimulating environment for children to play, learn, create, and express themselves, the East Atlanta Kids Club also engages children in conflict resolution exercises and other activities intended to promote mutual respect and tolerance.
