EAKC approved as VISTA Project

East Atlanta Kids Club became an official VISTA Project on August 2.

VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) is a national anti-poverty service program that assigns adult volunteers to work with organizations like Kids Club whose missions include education and economic empowerment.  VISTAs make a commitment to work full-time for the organization for at least one year, and are rewarded with a living allowance and an end-of-service stipend (not to mention an incredible sense of accomplishment).

The three VISTA volunteers that Kids Club will be working with will focus on volunteer management, fund raising, marketing and technology.

The goals for the first year of the three-year project including improving our recruitment, training and support systems for volunteers; expanding our fund and resource development strategies; and developing new marketing and communications tools. All of this work will ultimately increase our capacity to serve economically disadvantaged children and teens, and to provide youth and their families with more and better quality programs and support services that they need to succeed.
