President
Bush Recognizes
Kids Club Leader for Volunteer Service
Atlanta, GA, Oct 17--President George W. Bush met with East Atlanta Kids
Club founder and director Jill Sieder when he arrived at Hartsfield International
airport in Atlanta on Thursday, October 17. Sieder, who founded the kids
club in 1998, has been an active volunteer in the Atlanta community for
11 years.
In his State of the Union address, President Bush called on all Americans
to dedicate at least two years over their lifetime to service to their
communities, our country and the world. President Bush is recognizing
individuals around the country who are answering the call to service and
he recognized Sieder as an example of the dedication to service he is
hoping to instill in all Americans through his USA Freedom Corps initiative.
As they met for a few minutes moments after he stepped off Air Force
One, President Bush thanked Sieder for her years of dedicated service
to the community. Sieder told him she appreciated the recognition, and
asked him to continue to support after-school mentoring programs and legislation
to fund such programs. The president noted the importance of such after-school
programs and said that he would continue to support all citizen service
initiatives.
President Bush created the USA Freedom Corps office at the White House
to foster an American culture of service, citizenship and responsibility.
Through the USA Freedom Corps, President Bush wants to help every American
answer the call to service by strengthening and expanding service opportunities
to protect our homeland, support our communities and extend American compassion
around the world. Interested volunteers can find information on the USA
Freedom Corps at http://www.usafreedomcorps.gov or by calling 1-877-USA-Corps.
