East Atlanta Kids Club Benefits from G.E.A.K Fest

This weekend is the G.E.A.K. Fest Benefit (Giving to East Atlanta Kids) put together by two local photographers. The two-day show features 8 local rock bands. Proceeds will go towards a kids club art project.

Jill Sieder talks about the benefit and the Kid's Club on WREK (Ga. Tech radio, 91.1 FM) on Tuesday night from 10 pm to 11 pm, in between songs played live by The Yum Yum Tree. Check 'em out: http://www.theyumyumtree.org

On Friday June 20th at The Earl, the lineup includes: DAMES A'FLAME BURLESQUE, Sharks and Minnows, The Wrist vs the Futurist Party, and Starlight Conversion. Doors open @ 10pm, you must be 21+ to enter.

On Saturday June 21st at the Echo Lounge, the bands playing will be: MYSSOURI, Moreland audio, American Dream, and The Yum Yum Tree. Doors open @ 9pm, and you must be 18+ to enter.

Both shows cost $6, or get a 2-day pass for $9. The 2-day pass is available online only at www.badearl.com or www.echostatic.com. Must be 21+ for the 2-day pass.

Come on down, and encourage your friends and neighbors to attend! Besides enjoying some good music, the first 50 people to arrive on each night will receive a raffle ticket to win prizes from Sacred Heart Tattoo, High Museum of Art, Criminal Records and Heaping Bowl.

Money raised from the show will go towards a photography project that photographers Isia Cooper and Mark Parker will do with the kids to document life in East Atlanta. They are going to buy some cameras for the kids and have them photograph people and places that are important to them, and teach them some photography basics. It's a chance for the kids to open their eyes not only to art and creativity but maybe to see their community in a different perspective.
