Our Teen Club activities are designed to promote the academic advancement and vocational readiness of our teen members. Besides providing tutoring, SAT and ACT test prep and business skills development, we also engage them in a variety of recreational, educational and cultural activities to support their physical and social development.
Currently Teen Club meets on Wednesdays from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. Teen members also participate in field trips and recreational activities with members of Kids Club on Saturdays, usually from 10:30am to 12:30pm. Teens who consider themselves college-bound or who want to work with a mentor on pursuing a post-secondary vocational track get involved with our Project Senior program.
Project Senior
Helping Our High School Students Reach Their Post-Secondary Goals
In June 2010 EAKC launched Project Senior, a program that provides resources for our high school juniors and seniors to help them accomplish their post-secondary goals. Our goal is for our students, upon graduation, to have future plans to attend academies, universities, colleges, seminaries, institutes of technology and certain other collegiate-level institutions, such as vocational schools, trade schools, and career colleges, that award academic degrees or professional certifications. We will accomplish this by pairing each student with a committed volunteer for the duration of a year (or up until they graduate if not yet a senior), who will be beside them every step of the process. Each of our high school students is highly capable of achieving their post-secondary goals and lifelong dreams; East Atlanta Kids Club seeks to be an added support and resource to help our students reach the moon and beyond.
What makes our program unique?
Our program combines the close guidance of one-on-one mentors, who commit a year to seeing students through every step of the process, with the involvement of parents, cooperation of school counselors, and monitoring by EAKC staff.
