Announcing Our New Board Member, Keith Barthelmeus

East Atlanta Kids Club announces the election of Keith Barthelmeus, Senior Manager of Vendor Relations at Cbeyond, to its Board of Directors. Barthelmeus brings 10+ years of expertise in sales and operations management and corporate strategy. He has a proven track record of success in a series of progressively more challenging assignments, spanning from acquisition and change of control to development and start up of a new division for a $330 million media company. Keith is recognized for his ability to build, mentor and promote highly efficient teams.  He was awarded the Jim Markle Operational Excellence Award by Cbeyond in October, 2010 and September, 2011.

By engaging new and innovative leaders such as Barthelmeus, the Kids Club seeks to expand its resources within East Atlanta and surrounding communities.  “As a repeat volunteer for Kids Club, Keith has already supported our efforts through his fundraising efforts and considerable elbow grease during our facility renovations,” says Jill Sieder, Executive Director of East Atlanta Kids Club. “We now look forward to benefiting from his business acumen on the board.”

For his part, Barthelmeus says East Atlanta Kids Club’s mission to help under-resourced kids in south Atlanta strongly resonates with his own life experiences.   ”I benefited from a mentoring program called Walkabout during my senior year of high school,” he says.  “ It helped to give me focus and prepare me for my future through physical challenges, academics, community service, and internships. I have had a successful career using much of what I learned during that critical year.” Barthelmeus, who has lived in East Atlanta since 1999, says he is now eager to give back to his community in kind.  “I look forward to helping to further develop EAKC in a team effort to help our children to accelerate their academic and life skills.”

Mr. Barthelmeus began serving on EAKC’s board effective October 2011.

East Atlanta Kids Club is a nonprofit, out-of-school-time tutoring, mentoring and enrichment program for promising, under-resourced girls and boys, ages 7 to 17. The club was formed in 1998 by local residents hoping to give youth who otherwise have limited after-school and summertime options a safe and stimulating place to play, to learn and to express themselves under the supervision of caring adults. The club now offers a rich variety of educational and recreational activities and mentoring opportunities to more than 100 youth each year, free of charge. East Atlanta Kids Club is a federally tax-exempt, 501(c)3 charitable organization.
