Mayor's Office to Recognize National Service at EAKC
East Atlanta Kids Club announces the Mayor’s Day of Recognition for National Service to be held at Brownwood Park and Recreation Center on Tuesday, April 1, 2014. More than 60 national service volunteers with programs including Americorps, VISTA and Senior Corps are expected to attend and participate in volunteer projects in the Brownwood Park Community Garden and other areas of the park. Local elected officials from Mayor Kasim Reed’s office, Atlanta City Council and Dept. of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs are expected to attend, as well as state leaders of the Corporation for National and Community Service. The volunteer event begins at 9:00am. Ceremonies to honor national service volunteers will take place at 11:30am.
East Atlanta Kids Club has benefited greatly from the service of dedicated Americorps VISTA volunteers over the past several years. VISTA volunteers have helped us to build capacity in the areas of volunteer management, fundraising, marketing, community outreach and technology. We welcome this opportunity to celebrate these special civic servants.
Cbeyond broadened its support of Kids Club this fall to benefit Brownwood
Park and the entire community.
U.S. Micro Corporation has been a great friend to Kids Club for the past
three years, providing us with computer and networking equipment, financial support and most recently, the gift of a much-needed school bus.
