U.S. Micro Corp
U.S. Micro Corporation has been a great friend to Kids Club since for the past three years, providing us with computer and networking equipment, financial support and most recently, the gift of a much-needed school bus.
Our relationship with U.S. Micro began in December 2008, when CEO Jim Kegley
presented us with a bounty of Christmas gifts for the kidsand their families. After learning of our technology needs at Brownwood Recreation Center, in 2009 the company, which refurbishes computer equipment, supplied us with a dozen laptop computers, a powerful server, and other high-end networking equipment. They also donated $5,000 to our efforts to renovate the recreation center where our program is based.
Kegley has kept up with the technology and transportation needs of our program, and last December he surprised us with a whopper of a gift. He invited our executive director Jill Sieder and board member Danielle Joiner-McPherson to the U.S. Micro Corp 15-year anniversary party in December. During the party, Kegley presented us with a $10,000 check to support our after-school and mentoring programs, and announced that U.S. Micro employees would be encouraged to volunteer as tutors and mentors at EAKC, and allowed paid time off to do so.
At the end of the evening, Kegley and his employees then shocked and delighted us with the presentation of a 20-passenger school bus, freshly adorned with the East Atlanta Kids Club logos.
Sieder had shared with Kegley that a bus has been high on our wish list for several years. The vehicle enables us to transport more children from school and home to our after-school program and to take more youth on field trips to various educational and recreational venues.
East Atlanta Kids Club tremendously appreciates the ongoing support and commitment of the smart and generous people at U.S. Micro Corp!
