The East Atlanta Kids Club has two youth mentoring programs that give adults the opportunity to interact with some of the coolest and creative kids in this city:
Kids Club After School takes place in a group setting at Brownwood Recreation Center. Four days a week, adults and kids engage in tutoring and other educational activities, recreational activities, creative projects, cooking projects, computer activities, field trips, and more. They also talk about what’s going on in the world, in the community, and in their lives.
The Friendship Connection is a one-on-one mentoring program that allows an adult to get to know a particular child and to establish a meaningful, long-term relationship.
Kids Club After School takes place on Tuesdays Thursdays and Fridays, 3:00 - 6:30 PM, and two Saturdays per month, usually from 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM.
Teen Club, which focus on college and career readiness and leadership development, takes place on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 5:00 - 7:00PM.
Our program meeting site is Brownwood Park Recreation Center, 602 Brownwood Avenue SE, Atlanta, GA 30316. Mentors are expected to volunteer at least 6 hours (3 times) per month, for 6 months.
One-on-one Mentoring through our Friendship Connection program requires a time commitment of at least 5 hours per month, for at least one full year.
Both mentoring programs require volunteers to attend orientation and training sessions, and to undergo a background check.
We also have other volunteer opportunities available! Currently we need:
math and reading tutors
help with data entry and management
volunteers for our special event, The Brownwood Bike Rally (Sept)
local artists to share their skills with the kids
cycling enthusiasts to ride with kids
